Work across the entire engineering stack: You are comfortable and capable working anywhere in our stack to build and deliver our product into our customers’s hands. You will work with Python, Django, Typescript, React, AWS as our core technologies. You have designed and led projects working across infrastructure, backend and front-end (bonus if you have experience with our specific technologies).
Design and build our core systems from the ground up: We are an engineering team in its infancy, and as an early member you will balance the need to deliver value now while setting the stage for engineers for years to come. You have taken multiple projects and products from 0 to 1, establishing best practices along the way.
Distill structure from complex domains: We provide advice across agronomic, operational, and financial dimensions of farms and ranches, and you will build the technology that powers it. You will develop deep domain knowledge and use it to engineer real solutions. You have experience modeling complex data structures and workflows in “real-world” industries*.*
Build innovative interfaces using cutting edge technology: Our customers are farmers and ranchers who have been perennially failed by technology that isn’t designed for their world. You will use LLMs, voice interfaces, and whatever else is needed to build experiences that are easy and joyous for our customers to use. You have designed and built systems using websockets, LLM-powered chat or voice interfaces.
Collaborate across functions: We are a small but mighty team and you will pull knowledge and learnings from everyone to ensure we are building the best product for our customers. You have frequently collaborated directly with commercial teams to design and build solutions to customer pains.
Always learning: You may not have the exact experiences listed above, but you do have an approach to growth and learning that gives you and Rooted confidence that you can succeed at the responsibilities.
Independent: As a small team, we don’t have all the technical or organizational tools to solve every challenge you might encounter. You can problem solve on your own without explicit guidance, but also know when to ask for others for help or collaboration.
Open-minded: As an early-stage company, we are always learning and listening to feedback from our customers. You will be comfortable engaging with new information and quickly adapting to it, whether that is a minor feature pivot or larger change to company strategy.
Pragmatic: You understand success isn’t doing everything perfectly, but rather balancing short- and long-term priorities. You know how to ask the right questions and make decisions with that top of mind.
Customer-focused: You care deeply about the experiences of the farmers and ranchers, and about solving their problems. You are motivated by every level of impact, from improving voice quality in phone calls to helping our customers end their reliance on synthetic fertilizers.
